HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO US!

superbSONIC is one year old today!

I celebrated with a vanilla dish at flamingo SONIC and called in a request to SONIC radio for the ventures "hawaii 5-0."  not only did they play my song, they put me on the air for the first time ever!

you might think that superbSONIC is purely the work of one carbo-loading genius, but nothing could be more half-true.

an extra special shout out to lou kije, CD and special K for their work with poltergeist productions behind the scenes.

Fwd: wacky pack wednesday

two wacky packs: hamburger with wheat bun substitution, apple slices, milk, little stuffed play tots.  vanilla dish.  flamingo SONIC.

BIG SONIC night.  while waiting for a friend, i talked to the super-nice hop christina ... she was concerned i may not know how to order at SONIC (later i told her that i'd been to SONIC more than 150 times this year and because of that i have a more-than-passing familiarity with ordering) and then was decorating the landing tables with wacky pack wednesday balloons.  

i learned tons of interesting things:

• flamingo SONIC is "easily" the most busy in vegas.
• wednesday is their deadest night.
• the busiest times tend to be about 03:00, after all the clubs have let out.
• there are more than 6,000 drink chips circulating in the las vegas area, but they are almost never handed back in.

when i ordered my first wacky pack, it came in a trick-or-treat bag!  AND it had a detachable coupon on the bottom good for a $1.49 wacky pack ANYTIME!!

i was so elated i called SONIC radio and chatted up the DJ.  she's not allowed to play hallowe'en music yet (i asked for "monster mash"), so i had her play ventures and told her i was calling from fabulous las vegas where the temperature was perfect.

she was curious as to what the flamingo SONIC looked like, so i sent her some crappy cell phone pix (which i have included here ... unfortunately i forgot to take a pic of my vanilla dish).

so then what'd i do?  why i ordered another wacky pack using my coupon!

great discount.  good deal.  fun night.

route 44 iced tea.  SONIC on greeley highway; cheyenne, WY.  i'm pretty sure this is the first time i've been to a sit-down SONIC since i started superbSONIC.

hot dog*, apple slices, green apple coke and an ankylosaurus dino tot.  durango SONIC.

*so the great thing here is i substituted my kid hot dog for some crazy new limited time hot dog (50 cents more), but i forgot to write the name of it down (or take a pic) ... and it's not on the main SONIC web page ... so it'll be a day or two before i get the right moniker for it ... but it's a hot dog with shredded cheddar, BBQ sauce and onion rings ... unfortunately not that good ... too much of a taste war going on.

you just know that burrito is packing a caloric punch.  it's not even on SONIC's nutrition menu yet, when i called the 800 number they said it had 590 calories, but you KNOW that's a lie ... he's reading the wrong space on the chart (this is definitely NOT the "superSONIC breakfast burrito").

SONIC is taking a cue from taco bell by mixing and matching ingredients they already have to create new taste sensations ... tater tots in a burrito?  sure!

funny conversation with the order taker...when he was informed it was happy hour.  ("we have an expectation when it becomes happy hour."  "i'll meet, or exceed that expectation!"  you just gotta know that's alex on the other end.)

after a cool summer start, it's getting very hot in vegas...great day for a drink.

rolled in just at the end of happy hour and there was a l-o-n-g line at the drive thru ... in fact i had to duck into a stall to still make the 14:00 - 17:00 ... by the time i finished my drink, it was gone 17:00 so i took advantage of today's TXT discount.

while i was hanging out i took a cursory glance at the menu ... chillers are gone ... chicken salad is gone ... fritos chili wraps are gone (NV never had the chili pie listed) ... wacky pack wednesday is up 50c to $1.99 (although wacky packs haven't gone up in price).
